Lincoln, Love of My Life

This 1st post is an interesting one; I mean this is a blog about love stories and below is Lincoln "hagiography". But, to me, it is a perfect post. In life there are those things that seem to come more from contrivance and then there are other things which just kind of emerge. I, of course, much prefer the latter. Those things that emerge tend to be the stuff of real living, the evidence of real life. The contrivance life is a fantasy life, the life we want but can't have. All that being said, I'm glad to have this story, conceived to celebrate Lincoln's 100th birthday, as my first post. Lincoln is a figure in my life who just keeps coming up. I'm glad it's a figure like him that keeps coming up and not, say, Hitler. I hope that speaks about the emergent quality of my own life.
